USARA Michael B. Ranger Legacy Scholarship Fund
The USARA Michael B. Ranger Legacy Scholarship Fund is a memorial to selfless service and contributions made to our country by USARA members. These awards are given in their honor. This program provides an opportunity to provide financial assistance to qualified dependents of USARA members in furthering their education. The Scholarship Committee seeks to award scholarships to applicants displaying the potential for a degree in higher education, whether it is technical, university or professional. Each year the Scholarship Committee evaluates the scholarship applicants and selects the most outstanding submissions to be awarded a USARA Michael B. Ranger Legacy Scholarship.
The Executive Vice President who selects its committee members chairs the Scholarship Committee. The selections are made by the committee with the approval of the President and Treasurer, announced at the annual USARA Annual Ranger Muster held each year, and posted in the Ranger Register and on the USARA website.
The program provides financial grants to students who are or plan to attend an accredited college, university, or higher technical trade school. Scholarship awards funds are to assist with academic expenses at the attending University/School and will be disbursed directly to the University/School to assist with tuition, books, fees, supplies and room and board.
The scholarship program is supported by voluntary donations from USARA members and public donations. The number of scholarships to be awarded annually will vary. However, the scholarships will not exceed $5,000 per awardee and will be no less than $1,000.
Applicants must be a qualified dependent of a USARA member. Qualified Dependent is defined as an unmarried child; grandchild or great-grandchild of a USARA member (included those legally adopted) who is under the age of 23 for the entire academic year. USARA Member for this program is defined as an individual who at the time of scholarship application has been a Regular Member (Annual or Life) of USARA for a minimum of one year; or a deceased Regular Member of USARA.
USARA welcomes donations via credit card or a PayPal account; both methods use the same donation image link below. You may also mail donation checks directly to USARA at the address shown below. USARA is a 501(c)(19) Non-Profit Veteran Service Organization; all donations/contributions are tax-deductible. Receipts for donations will be sent for all individual donations in excess of $100.
